We’re very excited to tell you about our new collaboration with Action for Deafness, Haywards Heath. AfD is a charitable organisation offering a full range of services to deaf and hard of hearing people. You may be wondering why AfD and jojo’s have come together? Well after hearing these anecdotes, we decided it was a perfect partnership! Lady 1: “I was shopping in a large department store and went into the changing room with clothes to try on. The fire alarm went off but I carried on trying the clothes, came out, wondered where everyone was? An irate man came up ”Can’t you hear the alarm? We’re evacuating the shop” he said. ”Oh sorry, I’m deaf and didn’t know”. His retort ”I wish people like you would have purple ears or something – you’d be easier to spot” …
Lady 2: “I wanted navy blue trousers and the lighting was very poor. So I kept selecting from the rail and going to the window to check the colour – no, try again, no, try again. An assistant came up and very gently said ‘Sorry, may I ask if you are deaf by any chance?’ ”Yes, why?” “Well, every time you approach the window you set the alarm off with the tag!” ”Oh, I’m SO sorry” ”Don’t worry, it isn’t a problem, I just wasn’t sure if you knew”.
jojo’s are delighted to invite any customers to our boutique and we promise you will not receive treatment like this!
Our fashion show will be held at 22 Sussex Road, Haywards Heath on 25th February at 7pm and will showcase the Spring ’16 collection and will be modelled by 5 lovely ladies recruited from AFD volunteers and service users. Cheese and wine will be served and there will also be a raffle with several prizes.
